ENGLISH NATIVE TIP ~ common mistake ~ saying 'Have a good night'

I just wanted to tell you something that sounds unnatural, many of my Korean/Japanese friends on here do it.

When I go to bed, or if I'm about to go to sleep, they say "Have a good night".

We don't say this in England when someone is going to bed/sleep.

Instead we would say:
•Have a good sleep
•Sleep well
•Sleep tight
•Sweet dreams
Etc

When we say "Have a good night" it implies that we are doing something that evening. So if your friend was going for dinner, or out to a bar etc, you would say "Have a good night'. (Even if they are just relaxing, you can still say "Have a good night")
